Material & Structure

Shrink Film is produced from polyethylene (PE), polyolefin (POF), or PVC resin, and can be made as a single layer or co-extruded in up to five layers depending on the application. Layer count, real thickness, and even shrink behavior across the roll are what determine how cleanly the film locks around a product without wrinkling or tearing.

In multi-layer constructions, an outer layer can carry UV-resistant or anti-static treatment, a core layer is tuned for tear resistance and consistent shrink behavior under heat, and an inner layer is optimized for sealing and clarity. This is why two rolls with the same thickness can perform very differently in a shrink tunnel if their formulation or layer structure isn't comparable.

Types of Shrink Film & How They Differ

Shrink film isn't just "plastic that shrinks" — the real differences between grades come from material type, thickness uniformity, shrink behavior under heat, layer structure, and roll-winding quality. Here's how our main variants compare.

General PE Shrink Film (Economic)

A PE-based option built in 1–3 layers at 40–150 microns, best for carton and general packaging when cost matters more than display appearance.

Clear PVC Shrink Film (Glossy Finish)

A high-clarity PVC film at 20–60 microns in 1–2 layers, giving a glossier, more showy finish than PE for light retail display packs.

POF Shrink Film (Polyolefin)

A 20–40 micron film in 1–3 layers, best for food, pharma, and display products when appearance and shrink uniformity are the top priority.

Heavy-Duty PE Shrink Film (Export/Pallet)

A thicker PE film from 120–300 microns (up to 400 custom) in 1–5 layers, built for heavy loads, export shipments, and long transit routes.

Industrial Multi-Layer Shrink Film (Coex)

A 3–5 layer co-extruded film at 60–250 microns, with each layer assigned a role for better heat stability and reduced shrink variance.

UV-Treated Shrink Film (Outdoor)

An 80–300 micron film in 1–5 layers with UV-stabilized additive, necessary when packs stay under sun or in open-air storage.

Anti-Static Shrink Film (ESD)

A 30–120 micron film in 1–5 layers with anti-static additive, for electronics, sensitive components, and telecom equipment.

Colored & Printed Shrink Film (Custom)

A 30–200 micron film in 1–5 layers for branding, SKU differentiation, and fast product identification across warehouse and retail lines.

How Shrink Film Is Manufactured

Reliable shrink film depends on controlling three things at once: material and additive quality, thickness uniformity across the roll, and predictable shrink behavior under heat. Here's how we produce it.

  1. 01

    Material & Additive Selection

PE, POF, or PVC base resin and additives — UV or anti-static — are chosen to match the target product and packaging line.

  2. 02

    Precise Mixing & Dosing

Additives are dosed and mixed for even distribution, since uneven dosing creates local weak points or inconsistent static discharge.

  3. 03

    Extrusion (Single or Multi-Layer)

The film is extruded into its 1 to 5 layer structure with controlled pressure and melt temperature for consistent shrink behavior.

  4. 04

    Gauge (Thickness) Control

Thickness is monitored continuously across the full width, up to 500cm, to keep micron uniformity consistent edge to edge.

  5. 05

    Cooling & Stabilizing

Controlled cooling reduces internal stress in the film, preventing severe wrinkling or tearing when it's shrunk onto a product.

  6. 06

    Slitting & Converting

Precise slitting and edge control allow consistent roll widths and weights, including heavier rolls up to 150kg.

  7. 07

    Quality Control

Every batch is checked for shrink uniformity, clarity, seal strength, and roll quality before it's packed and shipped.

Frequently Asked Questions

Shrink film is a packaging film made from polyethylene, polyolefin (POF), or PVC that shrinks tightly around a product when heat is applied, using a shrink tunnel or shrink machine. The result is a clean, dust-resistant pack that holds up better during transport and storage.

Check three practical signs: uniform thickness, a roll that unwinds smoothly without waviness, and even shrinkage across a test product. Heavy wrinkling or tearing usually points to the wrong film type, thickness, or heat and speed settings rather than the film itself.

PE is the most economical option and suits general and industrial packaging. POF typically gives a cleaner, more uniform pack and is common for food and pharmaceutical products. PVC offers high clarity and a glossy finish, making it popular for light retail display packs.

Thickness depends on product weight and how demanding the shipping route is. Lighter packs can use lower thicknesses, while heavier loads or export shipments call for higher thicknesses. Our production range covers 20 to 400 microns.

Our shrink film is produced in widths from 20cm up to 500cm, suitable for both compact retail packs and wide industrial packaging lines.

UV-treated film is recommended when packaged goods are stored outdoors or shipped over long distances under direct sunlight. The additive helps prevent the film from turning brittle and cracking prematurely.

Anti-static shrink film is used for electronics and other static-sensitive parts. It reduces electrical charge buildup and limits dust attraction, lowering the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.
